The history of ImSim couldn’t be told without a brief description of its “mother” company: SIRMAF.
The automotive industry has been this company’s main focus since its foundation in 1989. SIRMAF is bound to the highest quality and delivery time standards, fulfilling orders of special machines. These are designed and manufactured in-house for specific purposes such as assembling and/or testing automotive parts. During the last 30 years, SIRMAF attained very extensive knowledge in special machinery design, including Software design and robotics.
After analysing a wide variety of markets it was decided that ImSim was the perfect project where SIRMAF‘s expertise and professionalism could allow the development of a product that could be sold directly to the end-user and revolutionise an entire industry.
Having decided that we were going to develop a simulator, our first step was to initiate the ideation phase.
Here our designer drafted numerous alternative architectures for our chassis. All these were carefully examined by our engineering team, both for feasibility and potential for realism and quality of experience.
Our prototype was fully operational by late 2016. We knew that testing would bring a lot of opportunities to improve our product. We were also ready to start promoting ImSim and let the market demand guide our future hardware and software development efforts. Our slogan at this stage reflects our focus on providing the user with the emotions and sensations of driving while keeping the aesthetic of the simulator stylish and unique.
Our first installation happened very shortly after showcasing our prototype, meaning that we’d need a finalized product ASAP. Our strategy was to implement a very quick cycle of testing, redesigning and implementation that allowed us to stabilize the design and start the production of ImSim V1. The first two units ever produced were installed and used by over 25 thousand people for over 4 thousand hours of continuous use without a single problem!
Our slogan at this stage of the project reflected our shift towards commercialization and establishing ourselves as a racing simulator manufacturer. This version was already a great product on its own, and any sane company would be happy with it.
ImSim V1 was already a great product, and any sane company would be happy with it... not us. We perfected ImSim to our standard... A wide variety of names was considered: meaningful Latin words, names of Portuguese cities and vessels used to explore the world or inspiring English words… ImSim Alma was chosen. Alma is the Portuguese word for soul and character, as we believe that each simulator we make has an Alma of its own. The soul of each ImSim Alma is born from the passion and dedication of our engineering and assembly teams, but is especially a mirror of its final owner and its emotions and sensations when near their simulator. Our new slogan represents our current development stage as well as our work ethic. Instead of aspiring to quickly establish ourselves as a simulation company, we want ImSim to be an instantly recognizable brand that requires no introduction. We strive to close the gap to perfection on every single aspect of our lives, by exploring our full potential as individuals, as well as a group of people. This is how we're planning to face the future and offer an expanded product line that matches the dedication to perfection that we gave to ImSim Alma.
